How to like someone's photo on Hinge
Hinge's official Likes guide explains that you express interest using the heart on a specific picture or prompt. You do not need to guess which whole-profile swipe action to use.
- Open the person's profile and choose a photo or prompt that interests you.
- Tap its heart icon.
- Add a comment if you have something specific and genuine to say.
- Check the message and use the send control shown in your app.
Before sending, make sure you have selected the item you meant to respond to. Labels and screen layout can change between app versions; the current in-app controls take precedence over old screenshots.
What should you comment on a photo?
Choose a detail that invites a comfortable response. These are original example messages, not measured “best-performing” openers:

Use an example only if it fits the actual picture and your interests. Avoid copying the same comment onto every profile. A respectful question about the setting or activity is usually easier to answer than an intrusive remark about someone's body.

What happens after you send a Like?
Hinge says that the profile leaves your Discover feed after you send a Like. You do not get a browsable list of those sent profiles while waiting for them to respond. If the other person chooses to match, they appear in your matches.
A Like is an invitation, not a completed conversation. A delayed response does not prove there is a technical problem or that your account is restricted.
Why can't I like a photo?
Read the message on the screen before changing settings. If it refers to your daily allowance, see Hinge Like limits and reset timing. A sending limit, a connection error and an account notice need different responses.
If a control does not work, try an updated app on a stable connection and record the exact error. Contact Hinge support if the issue persists. Do not delete your account just to troubleshoot a button.
Check the profile they will see in return

Is liking a prompt different from liking a picture?
Both are ways to express interest in a particular part of the profile. Choose the one that gives you something genuine to say.
Do I have to add a comment?
A comment is optional. It can give the other person a clearer starting point, but it does not guarantee a response.
